Stories by Participants in the Training Course: Green Skills for an Eco-friendly Youth Work

Sofia, Bulgaria (31 October – 6 November 2021)

As it was a time to celebrate Halloween, wear a scary suit, and eat a pumpkin pie, a project called “Green Skills” was implemented in Sofia, the grand capital of Bulgaria. For those who don’t know it’s in the southeast of Europe.

Speaking of the topic, “Green Skills” refers to environmentalism and recycling awareness. As you probably have figured it out, we have spent our time talking about how to prevent any further pollution and how to efficiently use plastic recycling. Furthermore, we have devoted extra time to the topic of upcycling. Believe me or not, but I have never heard this term before. Something new to learn, eh.

In general, everything was good. Positive vibes, friendly environment, some kinky jokes, and yeah, the food was good too. Nothing special to mention, however. What I really liked about the project was the opportunity to express the inner creativity and speak out your mind. When you are given a space to express your honest opinion, you won’t miss the chance, will you?

You know, quite a lot of people are living with this illusion that everything is fine, our planet will make it. Well, the truth ain’t shiny. Unless society will start respecting the mature earth and stop being complete morons towards it.

To sum up, did I like the project? Yes. Was it useful? Yes. Will I implement what I’ve learned? Well, hard to say. Sometimes living by “eco friendly” rules costs way too much. But even then your contribution is worthy. That’s my opinion. Anyway, there’s no truth after all. There are only opinions.
