Bottles2boats is a joint project of K.A.NE. and R.A.D.I.Kal.A., centered on an Educational Circle of Recycling that upcycles plastic bottles into sailboats.
It promotes a 5-fold aim with a corresponding 5-step boat-building process. It seeks to achieve:
- educational awareness – collecting plastic bottles from schools/establishments
- physical activity – shredding plastic into flakes/ cords
- innovative recycling – using innovative methods such as weaving plastic nets
- upcycled equipment – building the boat from recycled plastic bottles
- reward participation – sailing the new, upcycled plastic bottle sailboat
