Be a Change Maker!

July 12, 2022

The Changemaker project aims to address the gap in democratic participation across European Countries. The gap is based on three main axes: one is socio-cultural, one is economical and the last is political. As regards the socio-cultural axis, which is the one considered in this analysis, the needs analysis takes into consideration “Ageism”, which is the discrimination based on age. Youth are considered not capable enough to actively participate in decision-making processes. Being young means having to face obstacles, stereotypes and prejudices which can affect future autonomy.

That’s why the project aims to empower youth to make them able to realize themselves and make their voices heard. It is also clear that there are still important differences across EU countries and inside EU countries themselves. North-South, East-West are still used as “measure of development”.

The objective of the project is to positively impact on this gap, focusing on the participation gap emerging from data

The project has four specific objectives that responds to the needs analysed:

  1. To train youth organisations at grass-root level and youngsters in active citizenship; 8 youth NGOs and 100 young people to be trained by the e-learning academy activity, which consists by 4 lessons.
  2. To improve cooperation and decision-making and negotiation skills of youngsters; transnational events attended by at least 100 youth (at least 25 youth by each country). The events will last two days and will cover at least 4 of the 11 EU Youth Goals, in particular n.1 Connecting EU with Youth, n.4 Information & Constructive Dialogue, n.9 Space and Participation for All, n.11 Youth Organisations & European Programmes.
  3. To provide theoretical and practical information for active participation; Development and production of 1 toolkit called “Be a change maker!”
