After two years of cooperation, learning, development and testing, the Competency Coach project has come to an end.
The project focused on a very important question:
How can we support young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, to recognise, validate and develop the competencies they already have?
Many young people develop valuable skills through non-formal learning, volunteering, everyday challenges, community life, personal experiences and participation in youth activities. However, these skills are not always easy to identify, explain or use in educational, personal or professional pathways.
Through the Competency Coach project, the partner organisations worked together to create practical tools and methodologies that help make these competencies more visible, meaningful and useful.
During the project, we developed and shared:
- a competency validation methodology and digital tools;
- activities and resources to support the recognition of young people’s competencies;
- the Competency Coach method, manual and tools for youth workers and educators;
- an online training course for professionals who want to support young people through competency-based guidance.
The project results are now available online:

In Kalamata and beyond, we had the opportunity to present the project results to youth workers, educators, civil society organisations, adult education providers and other professionals working with young people. Through presentations, workshops and multiplier events, participants explored the tools, discussed how they could be used in real youth work and education contexts, and reflected on the importance of competency development.
One of the most valuable outcomes of the project is that it offers youth workers and educators a structured but flexible way to support young people in recognising their strengths, setting goals and planning their next steps. The tools can be used in workshops, coaching sessions, training activities, employability support, non-formal education programmes and personal development processes.
Although the project officially ends, its results will continue to be used in our work with young people and youth workers. We will continue sharing the methodology, promoting the online course and integrating the tools into future educational and youth work activities.
We warmly thank all partners, participants, stakeholders and local organisations who contributed to the project and helped bring its results to life.
