ESC volunteering, D.A.S.H. Dog Rescue Center

Hi, my name is Tessy. I’m 22 years old, from Luxembourg!
I volunteered in Kalamata for 2 months. Originally I signed up to help in the Dog Rescue Centre, because I saw how bad the situation is with the street animals.
Some things happen that were not planned, that have led me to stop working there. I see it now as an experience that I also learned from. Whether it is a good or a bad
experience, you always learn and grow from it!!
Anyways, I found a working place in a veterinary surgery clinic in Kalamata, which I’m really grateful for. I’m really glad to have this opportunity to watch and learn from professional vets. They were very welcoming and showed and explained to me a lot! Sometimes I also assisted them during an examination.
But it’s not all about the work – It’s also about the people that you met! I met incredibly nice people that I now call friends of mine. Together we visited the two smaller cities Koroni and Methoni, two beautiful trips. I can really say this journey changed me, in a positive way. I learned a lot about myself. I also got to know a new country, a new language, a new culture and an amazing landscape.
